We spent Half term in Northumberland.
Beaches
Houses. (This is Earl Greys house and yes I did have a cup)
Paddling (or plodging as we call it up here)
The Holy island of Lindisfarne reached only by a causeway at low tide.
Huts of upturned boats.
So many castles.
The Farne islands. Home to families of grey seals pupping right now.
Picnic on the beach.
More plodging
More beaches
More castles
Hmmmm…. standing in the line of fire.
Alnwick castle. Home to the Duke and Duchess of Northumberland and where the first 2 HP films were shot.
Halloween fun.
First ever electrically lit house in England.
Clan Howe, Happy days indeed…….
I cannot recommend this part of the country enough. We’ve been going for years and never get bored. Its a magical place, full of history and romance. *sigh*
Oooh, that looks bracing, what a lovely break. I hope you were not a Silly Billy getting a soaking!!! tut tut tut! I love the upturned boat huts, I want one in my garden, I would paint it pink :)

Hi
ReplyDeleteGlad you had such a good time. My hubby and I loved Northumberland so much that we bought our home up there (hubby a minister). I know the area so well that I even can work out where you are in the photo of you both looking so wet! Have you been to the Honey Farm? Great place to go.
Thanks for the photos Louise. You have really captured the atmospherics of the place, particularly Lindisfarne. It looks like a magical place to visit.
ReplyDeleteGreetings from sunny Sydney
